The 47th Congress of the Otorhinolaryngology Societies of Latin Countries took place from November 20 to 22, 2025, at the Four Points by Sheraton Congress Centre in Catania, Sicily, Italy. The event was held under the auspices of the University of Catania, which was founded in 1434. The opening ceremony featured welcoming speech from the University Rector and senior administration officials.

The congress has a rich history dating back to the 1920s. The event was led by Professor Ignazio Lamantia (Catania) as Congress President. Professor Gaetano Motta (Naples) served as President of the Otorhinolaryngology Society of Latin Countries, with Professor Salvatore Conticello (Catania) as Honorary President, and Professor Desiderio Passali (Rome) as the Society's Secretary-General.

This year's congress attracted approximately 1,000 participants from various countries and regions of Italy. It featured presentations and lectures by representatives from Italy, Russia, Brazil, Mexico, Paraguay, Angola, Panama, Venezuela, Portugal, Argentina, Romania, Cuba, Turkey, Egypt, the United States, Thailand, Malaysia, India, Bulgaria, and other nations.

A keynote lecture, titled "Otorhinolaryngology at the Present State," was delivered by Professor Sergey A. Karpishchenko, Vice-Rector for International Relations at our University and Chairman of ENT Department. Professor Karpishchenko outlined current trends, innovative technologies in the field, and promising directions for its future development. The lecture garnered significant interest and led to invitations for him to speak at future international congresses.
