The event was held in the Grand Hall of D.D.Shostakovich St. Petersburg Academic Philharmonia. Guests were greeted by Rector Sergey Bagnenko.

During the event Rector awarded medals and mantles to the Honorary Doctors of the University.

By the decision of the Academic Council of Pavlov First St. Petersburg State Medical University the Honorary Doctors became:

-The Minister of Health of the Russian Federation, Ph.D, Professor, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation Veronika Skvortsova;

- Head of the Department of Pathological Anatomy of Pavlov First St.Petersburg State Medical University, chief freelance pathologist of the St. Petersburg Health Committee, Ph.D, professor Margarita Rybakova;

- Head of the Department of Intermediate Level Therapy with a course of endocrinology, cardiology and functional diagnostics named after G.F. Lang with a clinic in  Pavlov First St.Petersburg State Medical University, General Director of the “Almazov National Medical Research Centre”, chief freelance cardiologist of the St. Petersburg Health Committee, chief freelance cardiologist of the Russian Ministry of Health in the North-West, Volga, North-Caucasian, Southern Federal Districts, Ph.D, professor, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Member of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation Yevgeny Shlyakhto.

Medals named after academician Uglov "For a significant contribution to the development of surgery" were awarded to the President of Research Institute of Emergency Medicine named after Sklifosovsky, Ph.D,Professor, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation Mogeli Khubutia and to Director of the Clinical Medical Center, Head of the Department of Neurosurgery and Neuro-Reanimation of Moscow State University of Medicine and Dentistry named after A.I.Evdakimov, chief researcher of Department of Neurosurgeryin Research Institute of Emergency Medicine named after Sklifosovsky, chief freelance neurosurgeon of Ministry of Health of Russia, Ph.D, professor, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation Vladimir Krylov.

Medals named after professor Kolesov "For significant contribution to the development of cardiovascular surgery" were awarded to Deputy Director for Surgery, Head of the Cardiovascular Surgery "National Medical Research Centre of Cardiology" of the Ministry of Health of Russia, Professor, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Renat Akchurin and to President of the Council of EurAsia Heart Foundation, Director of the Zurich University Clinic for international cooperation, chief cardiac surgeon of the Center for Cardiovascular Surgery "Klinik Im Park", professor Paul R. Vogt.

Medals named after academician Lang "For significant contribution to the development of therapy" were awarded to  the Director of Raisa Gorbacheva Memorial Research Institute of Children Oncology, Hematology and Transplantation, Head of the Department of Hematology, Transfusiology and Transplantology in Pavlov First St. Petersburg State Medical University, chief freelance  hematologist of the St. Petersburg Health Committee, Ph.D, professor, Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation Boris Afanasyev and to  General Director of the “National Medical Research Centre of Cardiology “ of the Ministry of Health of Russia, chief freelance cardiologist of the Ministry of Health in the Central, Ural, Siberian and Far Eastern Federal Districts, Ph.D, professor, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences Sergey Boytsov.

Medals named after academician Limberg "For significant contribution to the development of dentistry" were awarded to Rector of Moscow State University of Medicine and Dentistry named after A.I.Evdakimov, Ph.D, professor, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation, Oleg  Yanushevich, and  to Head of the Department of Orthopedic Dentistry and Materials Science with the course of adult orthodontics in Pavlov First St. Petersburg State Medical University , Ph.D, professor, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation Vladimir Trezubov.

Gala speech on the topic “Professional life through the prism of dentistry. 55 years from first graduation date of dentists  in First Leningrad Medical Institute” was read by  professor of the Department of Surgical Dentistry  and Maxillofacial Surgery of Pavlov First St. Petersburg State Medical University, Ph.D, professor, Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation, Heinrich Khatskevich.

The Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Honored Artist of Russia professor Vladimir Altshuler, performed Symphony N. 5 in E minor, Op. 64 (1888) , written by Peter Tchaikovsky.
