The visit was held within the context of signed agreement with the University of Kanazawa (Japan). Travel grant was received by Japanese colleagues for the development of cooperation with Russian Universities. On September 12th, the Rector of Pavlov First St.Petersburg State Medical University , Professor S.F. Bagnenko met with representatives from the University of Kanazawa. The parties discussed joint achievements in the field of academic mobility of postgraduate students and researchers over the past two years since the agreement was signed.

From Russian side the meeting was attended by Professor S.F. Bagnenko, Vice-Rector for International Relations, Professor A.N. Yaitsky, Head of the Department of International Relations S.Y. Borovets. From Japanese side there were Professor from Cancer Institute of University of Kanazawa Tiaki Takahashi, Professor from Department of Immunology Rikinari Hanayama, Professor from Department of Neurology Hiroshi Kawasaki, an Associate Professor from International Student Center Aida Mammadova, postgraduate student from Department of Genetics Atsuya Morita, postgraduate student from Department of Neurology Kango Saito, postgraduate student from Department of Urology Tomomi Nakagawa.

Guests from Japan visited our Department of Neurology and Urology, as well as anatomical exhibition at Department of Clinical Anatomy and Operative Surgery. Then guests also attended a sightseeing tour of St. Petersburg.

On 13th September a joint Russian-Japanese scientific symposium on oncology, neurology, urology and hematology was held at  Raisa Gorbacheva Memorial Research Institute of Children Oncology, Hematology and Transplantation. Presentations on relevant topics were made by Russian and Japanese experts. There was an active discussion. As a result of the symposium, both parties expressed interest in further cooperation in the field of joint research and conferences.
