A delegation from Pavlov First Saint Petersburg State Medical University held a series of working meetings in the Kingdom of Thailand, laying the foundation for a new stage of bilateral cooperation in healthcare and medical education.

From December 15 to 18, 2025, a delegation from Pavlov University, with the support of Rossotrudnichestvo and the Russian Embassy in Thailand, conducted a working visit to the Kingdom. The mission aimed to strengthen scientific and educational connections between two countries.

The visit's program was intensive and productive. Pavlov University representatives visited Kasersart University. During a meeting with the university's leadership, the parties held fruitful discussions on promising areas of cooperation.  These include organizing short-term internships for students and practicing physicians, as well as faculty exchanges for participation in key conferences and congresses. As a first step toward implementing these plans, the signing of a memorandum of understanding was proposed, for which a specific action plan was defined.

A large-scale educational meeting was held in parallel with the negotiations. Over one hundred students from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Kassersart attended a big lecture, provided by representatives of leading Russian medical university. Vice-Rector for International Relations and Head of ENT Department, Professor Sergey Anatolyevich Karpishchenko,spoke about his biography, specialty, and professional path, sharing his unique clinical experience, eliciting a lively response from the audience. Victoria Aleksandrovna Gavrilina, PhD, Deputy Dean of Medical Faculty for International Students, provided a detailed overview of the educational programs, history, infrastructure, and diverse capabilities of our University.  The Thai students were particularly interested in questions about the transformation of medical professions under the influence of digital technologies and robotics.

"Russia and Thailand have rich and, in many ways, unique experience in medicine, and we have enormous potential for mutual knowledge exchange," noted Professor S.A. Karpishchenko. "This dialogue is especially relevant in the lead-up to the World Rhinology Congress, which will be held in Bangkok in 2026."

The visit also included visits to leading medical centers in Thailand, such as MedPark Clinics, Bangkok Hospital, and Siriraj University Hospital, allowing the Russian delegation to gain an understanding of the high standards of Thai healthcare.
The results of the trip were summarized at a meeting with Evgeny Yuryevich Tomikhin, Ambassador of the Russian Federation in the Kingdom of Thailand. The Ambassador expressed deep interest in the results of the visit and the prospects for developing Russian-Thai partnership in the medical field.

Following the visit, preliminary agreements on cooperation were reached with a number of  universities in Thailand. Representatives of Pavlov University express their sincere gratitude to the Russian Embassy in Thailand and the Rossotrudnichestvo office, in particular to Evgeny Yuryevich Tomikhin and Alexander Alexandrovich Sidorov, for the organization of the visit. They also note the high level of preparation and sincere openness of their Thai colleagues and students, which will ensure a successful start to their collaboration.
