The forum was opened by the Rector of the University, S.F. Bagnenko. He underlined the special significance of the traditional March forums and the September Symposiums of Raisa Gorbacheva Memorial Research Institute of Children Oncology, Hematology and Transplantation,where every six months the most relevant achievements in such rapidly developing areas as oncology, hematology, immunotherapy, and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation are discussed, which are necessary in order to maintain and develop competencies in these areas.
Within the framework of the Forum, a working meeting of the main freelance hematologists of the Northwestern Federal District of Russia was held. Doctors highlighted the most urgent problems of organizing a hematology service and possible ways to solve them with the participation of specialists from our University. Representatives of the regions of the Northwestern Federal District reported on the current situation in their regions, discussed the risks of providing oncohematological services, infrastructure, new approaches to training specialists (individual form of training with in-depth study of practical skills), educational exchange of specialists, opportunities for academic mobility, providing patients with medicines, logistics problems , as well as the introduction of a vertically integrated medical information system.
The latest methods for the detection and treatment of myelodysplastic syndromes were considered by the speakers in the final section.
