Since 1897 our University has trained over 60 thousand medical specialists. Nowadays many of our alumni have achieved leading positions at different medical and educational institutions and have become top medical experts recognized in Saint Petersburg and all over the country.
The University Teaching Hospital includes more than 100 departments, the Consultative and Diagnostic Center, the Maternity Home and the Blood Transfusion Department.
The University staff includes skilled professionals whose experience and qualification is recognized both in Russia and abroad. Among them there are 17 Academicians and Corresponding Members of Russian Academy of Sciences, more than 600 professors and MD/PhDs, Chief Specialists of St. Petersburg and the North-West Federal District Ministry of Healf Care.

In total, Scopus database contains information about 3185 (29.11.17) documents, published by the staff of our University. In recent years the number of publications in the journals, indexed by Scopus, has been steadily increasing. In 2000 year there were only 40 such publications, in 2016 it was already 325. (Figure 1- number of publications in Scopus in 2000-2017 years).
The biggest amount of publications is devoted to medical and biological sciences (49.2% and 20.4% respectively). But there are publications from other fields of science (Figure 2-distribution of publications by field of science).
The number of publications, presented in the Core Collection Web of Science, is also growing (Figure 3- number of publications in the Web of Science in 2000-2017 years). In total, 1601 publications of our employees are presented in Core Collection Web of Science.
Also in recent years the number of publications’ quotation of our employees has been growing, which indicates the interest in our work from the scientific community (Figure 4 Dynamics of publications’ quotation in the Web of Science (Core Collection)). The H-index, according to the Web of Science, is 42, and the total number of quotations is 12691.
